Yates’s bar in Hastings has raised nearly £1,000 for St Michael’s Hospice in the last five months.
They started the ball rolling over Christmas and New Year by charging entry and donating a percentage of ticket sales to the hospice.
Customers and staff have continued their efforts since with collection pots on the bar.
“The events were a fantastic success with people flocking from all over town to join in the festive celebrations, which overall contributed to an incredible £962.13 being raised for the hospice,” said Tommy Roberts, General Manager of Yates’s.
“Every year we raise money for St Michael’s Hospice, one of many worthy causes in Hastings.
“Even though the economy is pinching everyone’s pockets, this year our customers helped to raise the most money to date, so thank you to everyone in Hastings who contributed to our efforts.”
Amanda Hildreth, Community Fundraiser at the Hospice said “We are always incredibly grateful for the hard work that Tommy and his team put into raising such an incredible amount for the Hospice.
“We are heavily dependent on the generosity of local individuals, companies, groups and trusts. With only 30% of our total funding coming from the Government in the form of various grants we still need to raise well over £3 million each year to maintain our current levels of service, therefore every contribution means our nurses can help local people every day.”
St Michael’s Hospice provides high quality palliative care and support to the communities of Hastings and Rother. Since opening in 1987 it has cared for more than 12,500 people with life-limiting illnesses.
