YOU could be forgiven for thinking that these bank staff had been burning the midnight oil at the office - but it was all for a worthy cause.

Office workers at Barclays in the town centre donned their night wear to raise money for the Horizons Community Learning project, a scheme that offers free courses for those wishing to improve their education and employment prospects.

And staff at Horizons took part in the fundraiser by wearing their pyjamas all day.

So far more than £1,600 has been collected for the scheme, which has helped more than 500 people this year alone.

Horizons offers around 50 courses which include First Aid and Food Hygiene, GCSEs and NVQs, and cookery, as well as English and maths courses.

Sonia Plato, project co-ordinator, said more fundraising events are planned for later this year.

She said: “If anyone is interested in helping to support us we would love to hear from you.”
