A glamorous fundraising Ball, hosted by Bannatyne Health Club founder and I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here contestant Duncan Bannatyne, raised a whopping £135,000 for international children’s charity Operation Smile.
The Ball, held in the Montgomerie Suite at The Bannatyne Hotel, Hastings, included a champagne reception, dinner and live entertainment. Guests then had the opportunity to dig deep and bid in the fundraising auction. Exclusive prizes included the opportunity to join Duncan on a medical mission with Operation Smile next year.
Duncan has made a number of trips with Operation Smile, to see for himself the life-changing work being carried out by the charity which changes the lives of hundreds of children with facial deformities including cleft lips and cleft palates. The money raised at the Ball will fund a medical mission to Ghana, enabling around 125 operations to be carried out on children who would otherwise be unable to receive surgery.
Duncan says his experience of seeing the charity’s work first hand was deeply humbling, adding: “Operation Smile carries out amazing work with vulnerable children across areas of the world where they simply would not have access to this type of medical treatment without the charity’s help. I am pleased and proud that I can continue to support Operation Smile. I am delighted that this fantastic evening raised so much money. Thanks to everyone who attended these children will be able to smile again.”
