Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) has been overseeing the implementation of ASCs in two sites in the county – Marine Parade and Madeira Drive in Brighton, and between the Marina and Grosvenor Crescent.

These will be the first permanent ASCs in Sussex, The ASCs in Brighton will be switched on this week (March 28) and the ‘go live’ date for the St Leonards site is anticipated in May 2017, providing there are no unforeseen events.

Both sites have previously had fixed cameras situated there, but studies have shown ASCs have a greater effect on driver behaviour for a longer period, and as such they have been installed in order to keep road users safer for longer.

On a week-long survey carried out in July 2016 as part of research, it was found that in St Leonards, two per cent at the Marina and 6.8 per cent at Grosvenor Crescent were above prosecution level.
