A MAN undertook a gruelling 30-mile run on a treadmill to raise money in memory of a friend.
Ashley Varley, of Marina, St Leonards, collected almost £500 in aid of Diabetes UK during the fundariser, which he did in Priory Meadow.
He said: “I ran 30 miles on a treadmill as part of a series of 30 races known as Steves 30 challenge.
“Steve was a friend of mine who died aged just 30 following a diabetic attack. The run in Priory Meadow was number 22 of 30.
“It could not have happened without the generous support of a number of people. So I would like to thank Gill Brett at Priory Meadow, Toby, Damien and Ryan at Freedom Leisure, Nick Neal, Ashley Mountain. Chris Thayre and Kevin Miller at Horntye Park, Sally Rimer, Angie Peacock, Ann Jenkins, Steve Uzzell and my wonderful mum.
“I would like to say thank you to everyone who gave a me a cheer and a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored me. We raised the incredible sum of £497.78 for Diabetes UK.”
