Arundel father killed in motorbike crash

THE FAMILY of a man killed in a motorbike crash on Saturday have paid tribute to his “zest for life”.

Gary Greaves, 48, from Arundel, died when his bike collided with a Land Rover, on private farm land in Buriton, near Petersfield, at about 1.45pm on Saturday (October 30).

In a statement, his family said: “Gary’s tragic and untimely loss has deeply affected our family.

“Gary was a larger than life character who had a natural zest for life. He had a great had many friends from his naval days and numerous friends made more recently through work and his various hobbies and interests.

“Gary was a loving husband, father, son-in-law, brother-in-law and uncle who could always be relied upon and who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.”

A married man with a grown up daughter, Gary worked in a the construction industry.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said that a 62-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and was released on police bail until January 26.

She added: “Officers continue to work to establish exactly what happened in this incident.”

A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester this afternoon.
