Anti-war events planned

AN ANTI-war group has organised a public meeting with MP Michael Foster to debate the situation over war in Iraq.

It will be on Friday, March 21, at 7.30pm at Horntye Park, Bohemia Road.Also speaking will be Milan Rai, author or War Plan Iraq. All members of the public will be welcome.

50 people including a number of new faces attended Tuesday's meeting of the Hastings Against War.group. Attendance has grown each week.

Their action plans include another picket outside the Labour Party offices, Bohemia Road, today from 2pm until about 5pm. Anyone opposed to the war is welcome.

A second 'die-in' to highlight the effects of war with people laying on the pavement will take place on Monday, March 17 at 4.pm in the town centre.

It was confirmed that on the day war breaks out, people opposed to the war should assemble outside the Town Hall between 4.00 to 6.00pm, bringing pots, pans, whistles and rattles to make their opposition heard.

A training workshop on NVDA (non-violent direct action), including legal advice, is being held tonight (March 14) 6.30pm to 9.00pm at Friends Meeting House, South terrace.

The next meeting of Hastings Against War will take place on Tuesday, March 18, at 7.30 in the Electric Palace, High Street, Old Town.
