Another bid for homes in Barnham

A developer is making a fourth bid in 14 months to build homes in Barnham.

Antler Homes wants to knock down 12 Downview Road and build 11 dwellings on the land as well as a replacement building.

The firm says the latest application overcomes the reasons why Arun District Council refused its last attempt at development last June.

Further work had been done on the surface water system and money would be given to the council towards the creation of nearby public open spaces.

Two earlier applications in the summer of 2006 saw one refused by the council and the other withdrawn by Antler.

A statement by David Neame, of Antler's planning agent Charles Planning Associates, says the scheme makes an appropriate and efficient use of land in a built up area.

The proposed development respects the character and appearance of homes along Downview Road and Ewen Gardens as well as providing a high quality residential environment for existing and future residents.

The proposed scheme, which will be decided by Arun, has a density equal to 27 dwellings each hectare and contains 27 parking spaces.
