Another 14 drivers have been charged with offences as part of Sussex Police’s summer crackdown on drink and drug-driving.

Graham Edwards, 50, was arrested at 6.55am on June 17 in Arlington Road East, Hailsham, after officers were given information that he was driving without a licence.

Edwards, of Dads Hill, Cross in Hand, was charged with drink-driving and driving without a licence. He was released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on July 1.

Alan Smith, 57, was arrested at 12.15am on 20 June in Hailsham Road, Polegate, after officers became suspicious about his behaviour.

Smith, of Clarence Court, Polegate, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on July 8.

Mark Griffin, 27, was arrested at 1.55am on June 17 in Wilson Avenue, Brighton, after he was reported to be speeding.

Griffin, of Robin Davis Close, Brighton, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on July 1.

Lee Dawson, 27, was arrested at 11.45pm on June 17 after he was involved in a crash in New England Road, Brighton.

Dawson, of Hearsay Gardens, Camberley, Surrey, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on July 2.

Kevin Warner, 34, was arrested at 6.25pm on June 18 after police stopped his car on the A2011 in Crawley.

Warner, of Withyham, near Hartfield, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on July 2.

Emmanuel Nyamayaro, 45, was arrested at 11pm on June 18 after police saw his car swerving on the A27 in Arundel.

Nyamayaro, of Providence Terrace, Worthing, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on July 7.

Jonathon Onions, 52, was arrested at 11pm on June 18 after his car crashed in Stane Street, Pulborough.

Onions, of Elmwood Avenue, Bognor, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on July 7.

Sam Ross, 19, was arrested at 12.50am on June 19 after police saw him driving in Pegler Way, Crawley, without his lights on.

Ross, of Buckswood Drive, Crawley, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on July 3.

Rosen Kolev, 34, was arrested at 1am on June 19 because officers were concerned about the way he was driving in Eastbourne Road, Pevensey Bay.

Kolev, of Mulberry Close, Eastbourne, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on July 8.

Matthew Diment, 29, was arrested at 1.35am on June 19 after officers saw him driving at speed in Brighton Road, Worthing.

Diment, of Malvern Close, Worthing, was charged with drink-driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and using a vehicle without an MOT. He was released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on July 7.

William Seed, 68, was arrested at 3.45pm on June 19 after he parked over a junction in Edward Street, Brighton.

Seed, of Whitehawk Road, Brighton, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on July 6.

John Melsa, 65, was arrested at 8.25pm on June 19 after officers stopped his car in Springfield Road, Brighton.

Melsa, of Bannings Vale, Saltdean, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on July 6.

Maxwell Moth, 43, was arrested at 9.15pm on June 19 after officers stopped his car in Elphinstone Road, Hastings.

Moth, of Forest Way, Hastings, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on July 8.

Stanley Almond, 70, was arrested at 11.10pm on June 19 in Broadwater Road, Worthing, after officers noticed one of his rear lights was not working.

Almond, of Broadwater Road, Worthing, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on July 7.

A total of 75 people have so far been charged with offences during Sussex Police’s June drink and drug-driving operation.

As part of Operation Dragonfly, road policing unit officers are on dedicated patrols looking for offenders.

Teams are responding to tip-offs from members of the public who see someone they know has been drinking getting into a car to drive.

People in Sussex can text officers on 65999 with the details of people they suspect of drink or drug driving or visit www.operationcrackdown.co.uk.
