A HASTINGS man has been re-elected onto the governing body of the region’s ambulance service.

Brian Rockell was reappointed to his position on South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust’s Council of Governors.

SECAmb chairman Tony Thorne said: “I’m delighted to welcome our new governors and also congratulate all those who have been re-elected. I’d like to thank our four outgoing governors for the tremendous commitment over the past three years.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with the Council of Governors at what is an extremely busy but exciting time for SECAmb as it continues to develop as a foundation trust.”

Public governors are elected by SECAmb’s public Foundation Trust members, of which there are more than 8,500.

The Council of Governors is made up of members of the public, SECAmb staff and stakeholders from organisations that work closely with SECAmb, such as the fellow emergency services and other NHS organisations.

As a Foundation Trust, the Council of Governors works closely with the Trust’s Board of Directors to ensure SECAmb is accountable to the public it serves.

The Council has a broader duty to represent the general public in the areas served by the Trust and governors also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of committees and groups if they wish. Anyone aged 16 or over can become a public member. A membership form can be filled in online: or requested from the membership office on 01273 484821.
