Airshow disaster police dogs rewarded with special treats

POLICE dogs which helped the Shoreham Airshow disaster recovery operation have been rewarded with hampers of special doggy treats.

Pets Corner donated the hampers to Sussex Police’s dog unit, which included chew sticks, tennis balls and other goodies.

The dogs and their handlers are trained to deal with a range of scenarios including drug, cash and weapon recovery, detecting explosives and assisting with crowd control.

Sophie Cook, Manager at Pets Corner in Shoreham, said: “We felt the police dogs deserved some recognition for all the hard work they put in assisting the police in searching the site after the recent crash.

“They are amazing animals and a really important part of our local community.”
