A time to reap

A PARISH project at St Peter's Church which began in the Spring when parishioners and other residents were given seed to grow comes to fruition on Saturday, September 13,

Big Sow has been a major project involving many people.

Now they are about to taste success when the fruit and vegetables they have grown will be used for a parish harvest thanksgiving supper with a difference.

Parishioners are being invited to visit St Peter's Community Centre between 4pm and 7pm either to stay the whole three hours or to just pop in for a quick bite.

The Big Sow project has also included a St Peter's Community Garden.

The aim has been to encourage people to grow their own vegetables, however little space they have, and to celebrate and give thanks for the fruits of the harvest with a different style harvest thanksgiving meal.

Volunteers will cook appetising food from the home-grown produce fruit and vegetables.

Others will take along home-made bread, fruit crumbles, vegetable quiches, imaginative salads and even "glut" dishes made from peoples' own produce complete with recipes.
