80’s icon raffles painting

Former frontman with Sigue Sigue Spuitnik, Martin Degville, has submitted a spectacular piece of his original art to be raffled at the forthcoming Front Row ‘Out of This World’ fashion extravaganza with all proceeds going to charity.

Martin’s striking, atmospheric painting, currently on display at SEED, Robertson Street, Hastings, has taken many months to complete and Martin says he hopes it will raise a lot of cash for Front Row’s chosen charities.

“I’ve been working on this painting for quite a while,” he said. “The inspiration for it came from the fall of Lucifer - there was a war between the good and the dark light.

“I decided to put it in Front Row to raise money for the Terrance Higgins Trust and St Michael’s Hospice.”

Martin says he’s looking forward to presenting the painting to the winner and also to being part of The spectacular Front Row show, which takes place over two days next month (November 21-22) at the De La Warr Pavilion (DLWP), Bexhill.

“There will be a collection of Sputnik2 designs on the catwalk and I’ll be performing a short set,” he said.

“It’s going to be a fabulous evening..it’s going to be fantastic!”

Front Row 2015 (November 21-22) is a compassion fashion show, showcasing the talents of 12 designers from the Sussex and Surrey area, who are all required to work with recycled and reused materials with the theme ‘Out of This World’.

The catwalk shows will be hosted by actress Maria McErlane, who co-presents Graham Norton’s ‘Grill Graham” agony aunt feature on his BBC Radio 2 show and BAFTA-nominated actress and comedian Doon Mackichan.

The star studded event on Saturday November 21 also includes Sister Gracie and 90’s superstar DJ and music producer Adamski.

Front Row’s annual Charity Shop Challenge returns with members of the public creating outfits from charity shop finds on a budget of £20. The competition will raise funds for Terrence Higgins Trust/World Aids Day (December 1) and local charity St Michael’s Hospice.

The first Front Row Vintage Fashion Fair will be launched on Sunday November 22, 11-4pm, and Maika Crampton, Creative Director of Front Row says it will be a day celebrating fashion of all eras, adding: “The entire event is really going to be quite amazing and we hope everyone will pop down to Bexhill On Sea to see us over the weekend. There’s nothing like it anywhere - this show is quite unique. It’s truly out of this world!”
