A CARELESS dog owner was fined £563 for ignoring his pet’s waste, as council officers launch a new crackdown on foul behaviour.
Dominic Chambers, 28, of Church Road, St Leonards, was fined after failing to pay a fixed penalty notice, and failing to attend Hastings Magistrates Court on Tuesday (August 9).
A campaign launched by Hastings Borough Council next month aims to raise awareness of the seriousness of dog fouling. The authority’s Waste and Street Scene team have promised to enforce any offences.
Councillor Phil Scott, lead member for environment, said: “We will continue to adopt a no-nonsense approach when it comes to this issue which residents feel strongly about, and if that means dishing out fines of more than £500, so be it.”
