2,000 REASONS FOR PUB TO CELEBRATE

THE Gardener's Arms public house in Cliffe High Street, Lewes, had 2,000 reasons to celebrate.

Customers toasted the pub's 2,000th different real ale on sale since re-opening in April, 2001, having been badly damaged by the devastating floods of 2000.

The 2,000th ale was specially produced by Sussex brewery Dark Star for landlord Andy Fitzgerald.

Called 2000 Strong, it was a 6.1 per cent dark beer and first pints were pulled and sampled by Dark Star's Rob Jones and Mark Tranter. The beer was sold out by 3pm. Rob Jones is pictured with Andy Fitzgerald.
