A 16-year-old girl was attacked and robbed of her mobile phone by a girl in St Leonards.

The victim was with a group of friends in the play park in St John’s Road at about 7pm on Thursday (March 19) when she was approached by another girl who punched her in the face and stomach.

The attacker, who had her hood up partially covering her face, grabbed the victim’s mobile phone from her hand and ran off, accompanied by a group of boys. The phone was an HTC 310 with a black front and a white back.

Detective constable Paul Wren said: “The victim suffered cuts and bruises in the attack but has been left very shaken by this vicious, unprovoked attack. We need to speak to anyone who was in St John’s Road on Thursday evening who saw the attack or the group running away.”
