1066 Country magistrates’ court round-up

The following are court results for the Observer area from Hastings Magistrates’ Court from October 6 to October 7.

October 6:

Dean Read (aged 39), of Bohemia Road, St Leonards, was sentenced to prison for 26 weeks, suspended for a year after being convicted, following a not guilty plea, of assault by beating.

He also pleaded guilty to causing £200 damage to a rabbit cage.

The offences took place in Hastings on February 28.

He pleaded guilty to a further charge of failing to provide a breath specimen when required by police.

Magistrates said the reason for the sentence was a young child was present and previous offending.

They also made a community order including an alcohol treatment programme requirement, made a restraining order and ordered Read to pay £100 compensation. He was banned from driving for 36 months.

Kimani Crouch (aged 30), of Queens Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to assault by beating.

The offence took place at Queens Road, Hastings, on June 17.

She was given an 18-month conditional discharge.

October 7:

Raymond Cole (aged 35), of West Hill Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to stealing three bottles of alcohol, from Morrisons, in Queens Road, worth £39, on September 18. He was fined £50.

Kevin Cox (aged 25), of Warrior Gardens, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to stealing items to the value of £103.19 from Tesco on September 17. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Lee Hersey (aged 35), of Priory Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a wrap of cocaine on September 18. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Jayne Verity (aged 53), of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly at Horntye Park, Hastings, and assaulting a police officer on September 22. The court made a community order and ordered her to pay £60 compensation.

Matthew Enoch (aged 23), of Charles Road West, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to damaging a window and two doors and causing £1,000 damage to a Mercedes on June 21. The court made a restraining order and ordered him to pay £250 compensation.
