Unique songstress to take on Bexhill

Singer/songwriter and pianist Regina Spektor is coming to Bexhill’s De La Warr Pavilion on July 29 and tickets are now on sale.

Regina was born in Moscow, USSR to a musical Jewish family.

She learned how to play piano by practicing on a Petrof upright that was given to her mother by her grandfather.

Her family left the Soviet Union in 1989 due to the ethnic and political discrimination which Jews faced; Regina was nine and had to leave her piano behind.

The family settled in the Bronx, New York, where Regina gradually achieved recognition through performances in the anti-folk scene in downtown New York City, most importantly at the East Village’s Sidewalk Cafe.

She is best known for her distinctive lyrics and unique voice, and her popularity knows no national bounds.

She has toured around the world, played for President Obama, and her music has been used on TV, film and in advertising campaigns.

This summer Regina will be headlining The Secret Garden Party festival, as well as performing at other festivals.

Tickets for the De La Warr show are £25. Call 01424 229111.
