Local music news from Andy Gunton

Here in the Hastings area we are very lucky to have some amazing bands and musicians, of all ages and across many musical genres, who regularly produce original music of the highest quality. Now is the time to help give that music and the musicians who make it the attention it rightfully deserves.

What I aim to do with this regular column is to showcase as much of that local talent as I can fit in.

Whether that be by doing reviews of gigs that I’ve been to recently, or maybe a new album/EP release.

It could be news about what’s happening in the local music scene, featuring a specific band, or even introducing you to someone that you may not have heard about yet.

If it concerns local music, I want to hear about it.

I get to hear and see a lot of very good original local music, but I know that there is far more out there just waiting to be discovered.

As I’ve suggested, your music needs to be original material only and from the Hastings, Bexhill, Battle and Rye area.

Mick Bolton was interviewed for BBC4’s recent The Ballad of Mott The Hoople, for whom Mick played keyboards and Claire Hamill is featured in Eva Cassidy - Timeless Voice which is on Sky Arts 1 today, (Friday), at 10pm.
