Fleetpointlaunchesnew costcalculator

FleetPoint has launched a new, free-of-charge tool that allows visitors to compare the full running and operating costs of all new cars and vans on the market.

The Whole Life Cost Calculator, developed in partnership with Clear Vehicle Data (CVD), encourages fleet decision-makers to compare and contrast the real cost of running vehicles in a side-by-side format.

It utilises market-leading independent data from International Decision Systems (IDS).

Users can compare depreciation and interest, fuel costs, service and repair costs, road tax, insurance, breakdown cover and Class 1A National Insurance contributions – helping FleetPoint’s audience to consistently make the right vehicle choices.

Uniquely, the tool uses more realistic fuel calculation figures for cars such as plug-in hybrids and range extender vehicles than the misleading official NEDC figures.

The calculator is the latest in a string of FleetPoint developments, as the publication – only launched in June 2013 – strives to become the industry’s leading voice on fleet matters.

FleetPoint’s refreshed website launched last month, alongside a specially-optimised version for smartphones and tablets.

An official app will also follow, alongside several new and exciting features to be revealed over the coming months.

Ian Smith, Managing Director of FleetPoint, said: “We are excited about adding this extra functionality to our fast-growing fleet website.

“We aim to become the authoritative one-stop shop all fleet information, and this is the first of a number of tools and calculators that we will be introducing in partnership with Clear Vehicle Data.”

Ian Hare, Director and Co-Founder of CVD, added: “We are delighted to be partnering FleetPoint on this exciting venture.

“This is the first application for our business-based version of Whole Life Cost.”
