Covid-19 related deaths in East Sussex hospitals rises

The number of people who have died with coronavirus in East Sussex hospitals has risen.

Eighty people have now died in connection with the virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

It is two more since last Wednesday (May 20).

The figure shows the number of people who have died in hospitals run by East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust since the outbreak began.

This includes Eastbourne DGH, Hastings Conquest, and Bexhill hospitals.

It comes as the UK death toll reached 37,460 people. Today (May 27), 412 more people are reported to have died in connection with covid-19.

In East Sussex, Public Health England says there has been 700 confirmed cases of the disease.

Of these, 150 are in Eastbourne, 53 are in Hastings, 95 in Rother, 194 in Lewes, and 208 in Wealden. There are 429 cases in Brighton and Hove.
