A spokeswoman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue confirmed a ‘very small number of staff’ at one of its fire stations are taking precautionary measures after one member of staff had a positive test for Covid 19.

She added: “Tests on other individuals have been negative.

“We have followed Government advice on tracking contacts, including members of the public such as family and friends of the individual.”

The fire service is not identifying which station the case is at to protect the individuals’ privacy.

The spokesman said: “The service has robust measures in place to reduce the chances of Covid-19 spreading in the workplace and at emergencies, and to react quickly when a case emerges.

“We continue to respond to 999 calls and our operational resilience is not affected.”
