Hastings Covid-19 infection rate drops again after small spike

The town’s infection rate for the week ending February 28 was 65.8 cases per 100,000 people, according to the latest available figures from Public Health England.

The rate of infection in Hastings had risen to 74.5 cases per 100,000 people in the week to February 26 after a slight increase of positive test results were recorded on February 22 and February 23.

The average infection rate for England in the week to February 28 was 81.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Hastings recorded 61 cases between February 22 and February 28, according to the latest figures.

Hastings’ rate of infection for the previous week (the seven days to February 21) was 66.9 cases per 100,000 people.

In Rother, the rate of infection is continuing to drop, according to the figures, down to 26 cases per 100,000 people. There were 25 cases reported in the week to February 28.

Worthing is now the only town in Sussex reporting an increase in its weekly Covid-19 infection rate.

Infection rates up to February 26 for each town in East Sussex:

Hastings: 65.8 cases per 100,000 people (61 cases between February 22 and February 28)

Eastbourne: 41.4 cases per 100,000 people (43 cases between February 22 and February 28)

Lewes: 33.9 cases per 100,000 people (35 cases between February 22 and February 28)

Rother: 26 cases per 100,000 people (25 cases between February 22 and February 28)

Wealden: 22.3 cases per 100,000 people (36 cases between February 22 and February 28)
