The figures, published yesterday (June 5) by NHS England, showed that there were no new deaths of patients in hospitals in East Sussex that had tested positive for Covid-19 at time of death on Friday (June 5).

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust had 136 coronavirus deaths to date and East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs hospitals in Eastbourne and Hastings, had 82.

These figures do not include deaths in care homes, which are published separately.

The amount of confirmed coronavirus cases in East Sussex as of yesterday was 732.

Nationally, there have been 40,465 coronavirus deaths, with 204 additional deaths recorded today (June 6).
