The virtual jobs fair will be in the south east on Tuesday (July 21)

The National Careers Service (NCS), a government service, is providing the online jobs fair to the south east on Tuesday (July 21) which will run from 11am until 12pm on its social media channels.

Deborah Lloyd, assistant director at NCS south east, said, “Our Virtual Jobs Fair has been a great way for us to extend our support to citizens across the south east and help them get back into work.

“Our advisers are also here to support with CVs, covering letters, applications and interview skills, to ensure jobseekers are in the strongest possible position to secure employment.”

The aim, an NCS spokesperson said, is to ensure people are receiving ‘crucial’ careers support and advice during covid-19.

The spokesperson said employers will be given the chance to advertise vacancies on NCS’ social media channels or by searching for #JobsHour on Twitter.

Employers have also been invited to join in with the online discussion and bring the jobs fair ‘to life’ by encouraging jobseekers to ask questions about the vacancies.

At last year’s event in 2019, NCS said it was a success after 1,300 opportunities were advertised and a Facebook Live employment workshop reached more than 33,000 people.

An employability skills Facebook Live event will also be held on Wednesday (July 22), focusing on reviewing and building up skills.

The NCS said it will also provide free personalised careers information, advice and guidance for anyone wanting advice on vacancies, next steps or finding a role that is right for them.

To get involved, follow the NCS’ social media accounts by visiting @CareersSE on Twitter or NationalCareersServiceSouthEast on Facebook.

To contact the service call the helpline on 0800 100 900, which is open 7 days a week from 8am until 10pm, or visit
