BUSINESS AWARDS 2015: Shining a light on excellence

The Chichester Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the large business category at the awards and chamber chairman Louise Hopkins said the awards help highlight ‘commercial agility’ in the area.

“Chichester Chamber of Commerce is delighted to be involved with the Observer and Gazette Business Awards again this year and being a part of celebrating what is good about doing business in our area,” she said.

“As the leading voice of business in the Chichester area, Chichester Chamber of Commerce and Industry represents 
numerous sectors at local, district and county levels, leaving owners and managers to get on with running the
business.”

At the awards’ launch night in January, Louise gave tips to success on submitting applications.

This week, she spoke of two ways the awards heralded commercial agility and achievement.

“Firstly, from the perspective of recognising and celebrating achievement, business has been hard enough in recent years, so when an organisation achieves a goal, or shifts its focus onto its staff or customers, it should be recognised for the extra effort it has made and the positive impact these changes have had on the organisation,” she said.

“There are so many mediocre companies around these days that those who go above and beyond the norm do stand out and really should be rewarded.

“The second key way that organisations should hold their achievements aloft is actually from their own perspective as the company. Everyone deserves to work for and in an award-winning business.”

She said managers and directors were often embroiled in ‘day-to-day graft’ and rarely looked at how far they had come, with the awards giving people the opportunity to feel proud and to say ‘well done’.
