LABC represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales and members work cooperatively with building owners, home owners, architects, plan drawers, developers, building contractors and other professionals to ensure buildings are safe, healthy and efficient to meet the standards set by building regulations.

The awards look at high levels of compliance with building regulations, outstanding craftsmanship, technical innovation, sustainability and high performance.

After winning the regional award, the scheme will now go forward to the grand finals to be held in November.

Cabinet Member for Economic Development at the council, Peter Smith, said: “Brunel Place is a great development that achieves one of our key objectives — affordable homes in the town centre. I am delighted that the hard work of Osborne Construction Ltd and council officers has been recognised.”
