There are countless thousands of Elvis impersonators strutting their stuff on stages across the world and admittedly some are very good.

I’ve seen a few myself and I must admit Mario as Elvis is up there with the best.

Not just for his singing but more for his stage charisma and humour which came across in abundance to a packed out Hastings audience.

All the hits were there, Blue Suede Shoes, All Shook Up, Jailhouse Rock, The Wonder of You, In The Ghetto, and a multitude more.

At the back of the stage was a large screen showing movie clips from Elvis’s life, from his television appearances through to his movie clips. Mario took the audience through Elvis’s life from the early days of Sun records through to his movie career. The many costume changes were much a part of the show as the singing was from Army fatigue gear to the sequined suits all this helped to create the Elvis effect.

Mario was superbly backed up by some fine musicians and female singers all who helped recreate the Elvis songs.

Mario was more off the stage than on as he came into the audience shaking their hands and presenting them with the customary scarfs.

Front of stage was filled with dancing women all eager to get close to this fantastic Elvis impersonator.

The night ended with American Trilogy, Elvis’s anthem song.

Elvis may be gone, but the legacy that he left and the music will forever live in the minds of millions. Well done to the White Rock for bringing this wonderful act to Hastings. Review by Malcolm Robinson.
