A LUSTFUL fish-monster, a powerful magician and a pair of drunken rebels perform in Hastings next week, when a touring production of The Tempest plays for three nights in The Stables.

After a successful run as an open air show for The National Trust in Kent, the Summer Theatre Company’s production transfer to the intimate and popular Old Town theatre.

Director Peter Mould said he was glad the production had survived the open air run without audiences being soaked, and the Tempest of the play’s title being reflected in reality.

He called the show a ‘wonderful world of magic, monsters and spirits, of love and revenge, on an enchanted island set in a distant sea,’ and urged theatre-goers to snap up a ticket.

Thought to be Shakespeare’s last major work, The Tempest tells the story of the wizard Prospero, who conjures a shipwreck off the coast of his island prison to satisfy his need for revenge.

Stables regular actors Ian Klemen (Prospero), Alec Mohun-Smith (Caliban) and Zoe Morgan (Miranda), mean this should be an unmissable show.
