Take a trip to The Sea

The Sea is a lively exhibition opening at Smallhythe Studio on Tuesday 28th April and running daily until 16th May 11am-5pm (not Suns, Mons). One hundred pieces of art work inspired by the sea make quite an impact as you enter the gallery. There is work by some of the best artists in the south east, stretching from Brighton to Ramsgate. Local potter, Sue Fields, has some beautiful new work on display and Wittersham artist Karl Terry is well represented. There is a stunning piece by Rob Machin and a dramatic skyscape by Emily Pennock. Other artists include: Mark Godwin, Julian Sutherland-Beatson, Alison Trask, Jillian Eldridge, Caroline Fraser, Sandy Dooley, Karen Birchwood and Clare Winchester. Three coastal pieces by Anne-Catherine Phillips, who sadly died last year, are also on show. Sounds of the sea add to the atmosphere too. All in all, a powerful display and one not to be missed – an opportunity to see so much good art in one place does not happen often!
