The event is being headlined by West End and Broadway leading lady, Kerry Ellis, best known for playing the iconic role of Elphaba in Wicked.

Kerry has become recognised as a top performer following starring roles in London and on Broadway, and she has also achieved chart-topping success with her debut album Anthems.

Kerry was the first British Elphaba in the West End smash, Wicked, and immediately transferred to Broadway to play Elphaba at the Gershwin Theater, before returning to the West End production in 2009. Her leading role credits include Nancy in Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Ellen in Miss Saigon, Grizabella in Cats, and Fantine in Les Misérables.

Kerry’s first major CD release was Wicked in Rock, which is still flying high in best-seller lists. This was a collaboration with long time friend and Queen guitarist, Brian May. This lead to her being signed to Universal as a solo recording artist and her debut album, Anthems, was released in 2010 on Decca Records with its success leading to a major tour.

Kerry has recorded Somebody to Love which features on Only Men Aloud’s best-selling album Band of Brothers, Come What May with Alfie Boe, Behind These Walls on Scott Alan’s album Keys, and Wind Beneath My Wings with the Central Band of the RAF.

Adam said: “I am absolutely delighted that Kerry will be joining us on June 12. She truly is one of the best musical theatre performers in the world and we are incredibly lucky.”

The Magic of the Musicals is a spectacular concert, featuring favourite songs from the shows. Expect Lloyd Webber, Sondheim, Gershwin, Rogers and Hammerstein, culminating in a breathtaking Les Miserables finale.

Kerry will be joined by stars including Richard Meek, currently playing to role of Brad in the UK Tour of The Rocky Horror Show, Sussex’s favourite crooner Tom Fitzpatrick, and a huge community choir, children from The Theatre Workshop, dancers and a twelve piece band.

Adam commented: “The Magic of the Musicals is all about bringing together the local community and the very best professional musical theatre talent to create a very special evening. The production really has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, playing to capacity audiences and promoting greater community cohesion through music. This year, the show is bigger, better and more showbiz than ever! This is a fantastic opportunity to see some of the industry’s best performers on one stage as well as our ‘emerging artists’ including Bexhill’s own Sam Coleman (Game of Thrones), Andy Rose (currently at The Urdang Academy) and Sussex Songstress, Mollie Tucker.”

Tickets cost £14-£30, available on 01424 229111 or www.dlwp.com.
