Modern country at The Roomz

Mick McDonald, aka The Night Porter, carries his solo show to The Roomz, Western Road, St Leonards, on November 1.

After almost a decade in retirement, Mick McDonald, former founder member, vocalist and bassist of country band, A Band Named Sioux, will be returning to the road under the name of The Night Porter.

The new show will feature modern country, a smattering of classics, some “not-so-country” songs and, maybe, a little audience participation.

Mick McDonald has toured extensively in the UK, especially during the 1990s, with ABNS, releasing three studio albums and sharing the stage with the likes of Billie Joe Spears and Jeannie C. Riley.

He said: “With my experience of performing as lead vocalist and bassist during the 1970s and 1980s in rock bands such as Nimbus and Whisky, and then moving into country music, there should be something for everyone on the night.

“To me, country music is all about the lead instrument (the voice) and story-telling. This will

also be my first outing as a solo artist.”

The gig is free entry.
