Local music news with Andy Gunton

WITH recent news that YouTube has become one of the most popular ways that people now listen to new music, it’s no surprise that local bands are now making music videos of their own to help spread the word about their music.

The latest local act to do just this are young Hastings based band The Kid Kapichi. Coming towards the end of what has been a big year for the band, they have just released a video for a brand new song She Kicks Off.

You can watch the video on the bands YouTube page here: www.youtube.com/user/thekidkapichi/videos.

The She Kicks Off video was filmed in a soon to be refurbished building in St Leonards by local film makers and producers. I wonder if you can guess where?

The Kid Kapichi are also one of a number of local bands who are now playing prestigious gigs in London. Others include Maid Of Ace, who recently played the legendary Hope and Anchor pub and Hornet who headlined the 02 Academy 2 in Islington in September.

Now two more of our best live bands have played their first London gigs, namely Ceyote and One Thousand Tons. Well done to them and let’s hope there are many more London gigs to come for all of those bands.

One local singer/songwriter who isn’t short of past London gigs is Claire Hamill. Claire will shortly be releasing a brand new single and EP, as well as being well into writing her soon to be published autobiography. That should be well worth a read.

Claire may be busy, but she’s still found time to set up a series of four intimate local gigs. The first is at Miki’s bar, Marine Court in St Leonards on October 13 between 4pm and 7pm.
