Growing festival moves to new venue

Ore Stage Festival is taking place at the Izzard Theatre in Bexhill College from Tuesday May 30 until Saturday June 4.

Run by Wendy Dyer (nee Cameron), this is its ninth year and the festival organisers received over 1,000 entries requiring additional times to be added to an already busy timetable.

Entries had to be turned away this year unfortunately due to its unprecedented success. Although officially retired from teaching at her ballet school in Hastings, Wendy is still continuing to run the festival with help from secretary Laura Mitchell. She has been an adjudicator and choreographer for 20 years, and was a professional dancer and singer before taking on her own school.

Started in 2008, the festival is growing each year in popularity and is known for its smooth-running and friendly atmosphere: it is a song and dance extravaganza and has solo, duet and group sections in Ballet, National, Character, Tap, Modern, Song & Dance, Greek or Natural Movement, Lyrical Modern and Street Dance. There are three sessions at 9am, 1pm and 5pm Wed-Sat and two on the Tuesday at 1pm and 5pm.
