Battle choir with a stunning presentation in St Leonards
The music is the Stabat Mater composed by Antonin Dvorak. He was a prolific composer of beautiful melodies, and many are aware of his New World Symphony.
The Stabat Mater is a lovely setting of a famous mediaeval poem, and although born out of tragic personal circumstances, it inspired the composer’s finest choral work.

Hide AdThe Publicity Officer Iva Barnes reports that arrangements for this concert are altered for this one concert, with doors open from 7 pm for the audience to enjoy a complimentary drink, followed at 8 pm by the concert.
They hope that this different schedule will attract their usual enthusiastic gathering.

There will be a free bus from Battle, but seats must be reserved by phoning (01424) 775730 On sale during the evening, will be CD’s of Christmas Carols, which were available last year, but are now on sale at £5 per CD.

Hide AdThe Choir says that for the first time they will be using soloists that come under the auspices of the Jacqueline Baker Trust, and look forward to welcoming young singers at the start of their careers.
They, the choir and Orchestra all under the direction of the Director of Music, John Langridge, hope that everyone will enjoy the beautiful music.
