This Saturday (September 12) Priory Meadow Shopping Centre will be transformed into a huge cinema for the evening.
The screening will take place after all the businesses have shut up shop for the day and will be the finale to Coastal Currents Arts Festival.
It will be a free event and feature the premiere of Hastings film-maker Nichola Bruce’s Alcina-Pale Shadows.
The evening will open with a performance by Aino Konkka from Barefoot Opera accompanied by Francis Rayner on the piano and followed by a director’s introduction.
Shot in Hastings, Pale Shadows is told through the eyes of a young storyteller who tells the story of Bradamante’s travels to a magical island to reclaim her lost lover Ruggeiro from the enchantress Alcina.
his is a rich visionary approach to Handel’s opera Alcina, which explores the intrigue and turmoil of love. Set against a contemporary world, it features some of Handel’s most moving arias.
