VIDEO preview: The Stables Youth Theatre’s production of Mort

Death comes to us all, but when he comes to Mort, it’s with an offer the boy can’t refuse. As Death’s apprentice, he’ll have free board and lodging together with the use of the company horse. All goes well until he accompanies Death harvesting souls – and starts interfering with fate. Then Death takes the evening off, reality becomes confused and is spinning out of Mort’s control in a mess of emotions and misunderstandings.

He begins to appreciate the ramifications of his actions, and realises that a perfect job can be a killer to one’s love life.

The very first play performed by the Youth Theatre was Terry Pratchett’s Carpe Jugulum. They now pay tribute to his influence on the world of fantasy by presenting their interpretation of what is, perhaps, his best-loved tale.

The Stables are encouraging the audience to dress up in Discworld gear.

The show opens tomorrow (Wednesday 2nd September) and runs until Saturday 5th.

A Stables Youth Theatre amateur production directed by Niall Whitehead and Maureen Nelson.
