The show, which was a hit at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, comes to The White Rock Theatre on Tuesday October 25 at 3pm.

Well-loved tales such as Hansel and Gretel and Rumpelstiltskin appear alongside Lily and the Lion (the original Beauty and the Beast) and some less well-known stories including The Golden Goose and the very silly The Bird, the Mouse and the Sausage.

Story Pocket Theatre won a coveted Three Weeks Editors’ Choice Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for outstanding contribution to children’s theatre.

Led by the Storyteller, the cast of four play a dizzying number of characters as the stories take the audience on an exciting journey through dark forests, enchanted castles, edible houses and ocean shores.

Writer and co-director of the play, Adam Fletcher-Forde said: “Telling stories is at the centre of everything we do. The story is king and there are so many brilliant stories from the Grimms’ collections. Some are very well known but by moving away from the modern versions and going back to the original stories, we’ve unearthed some spectacular surprises.

“Our aim is to entertain the whole family with our stories: of course the children but also the grown-ups who bring them along to the theatre. We’re so pleased to be getting out on the road and sharing these wonderful stories with as wide an audience as possible.”
