It takes place on Wednesday March 22 from 8pm and is part of a UK tour.

Peter has lived in Hastings for many years - even working for a while as a trawler fisherman when he became disillusioned with the music business.

Since his departure from folk-rock pioneers Steeleye Span at the end of 2013, Peter has turned his full attention to his trio Gigspanner, and in the process has firmly established their burgeoning reputation as one of the most innovative and exciting acts on the folk/roots scene.

Peter won two Musician Of The Year awards in 2016 on the strength of their album Layers Of Ages, and the album itself featured in several Album Of The Year listings, including The Telegraph, which gave it a rare five star rating.

Layers Of Ages saw Gigspanner blowing the dust from a collection of well-worn traditional songs and tunes, dismantled, reconsidered and put together again to reveal moments of originality and staggering beauty.

It has been played on several BBC folk shows, including Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe show and Radio 3’s World On 3.

In the words of fRoots: “Peter shows a willingness to turn the expected inside out and to place it back as neat as it was before being taken” while the late great Terry Pratchett said: “Peter Knight can spin the world on his bow.”

In Peter’s own words “there is nothing more exciting than finding yourself lost in a new layer of inspiring and spontaneous music.”

Within Gigspanner, Peter’s musicianship is further enhanced by the flawless playing of Roger Flack on Guitar and Sacha Trochet on hand drums and percussion.

As a founding member of Celtic-Rock Band The Tabs, Roger is primarily a rock musician who shares Peter’s affinity with traditional material, whilst Sacha’s playing brings the rhythms to life with his incredible knowledge and sense of feel, whether playing a song or a tune.

Tickets cost £15 and are from Stables Theatre box office on 01424 423221 or stablestheatre.co.uk.
