FUNDRAISERS from across the country and overseas have joined forces to raise cash for Britain’s troops.

Bands from Essex, Leeds and even Germany will travel to the Phoenix Arts Centre on Sunday, September 11 for a concert in aid of Help for Heroes. All have forfeited their fee for the event, which runs from 7pm till late.

Shona Goobie, 64, of Denham Close, was inspired to organise the concert after two of her nephews served in Afghanistan. She hopes to raise between £3,000 and £4,000 through ticket sales, and urged the town to support her efforts. “Come down and have a fantastic evening,” she said. “There’s going to be a dance floor, seating, drinks and some food, and all the money goes to a great cause.”

Popular local group The Kytes are joined by Shawn Harvey’s German rock group, country sounds from the Atlanta Band, and British rock outfit the Peppermint Apes.

Tickets, £10, are on sale at Hastings Information Centre. For information contact Shona on 07870 881062.
