Thousands of festival goers enjoyed the bank holiday sunshine and watched a bumper festival for The Traditional Jack in the Green 2008.
Traditional folk from all over England and Wales came to participate in the annual event which paraded around the Old Town to the Castle, where the Jack was slain.

Great to see Jack in the Green once again this year. Our Jack in the Green here in Baltimore is a large sicamore root which looks like three men intertwined about 9 feet tall....
Hard to get people out May Morning so I guess the delay to Monday is not all that bad....but it should be May Morning. I am still trying to find foodways customs but nothing ancient this year yet discovered....and may wine is german...
