THE closure of Old Town Post Office is making the headlines.
Labour MP Michael Foster said this week that while he was disappointed at the news, Post office services will be retained locally.

Extraordinary spin, says Tory rival Amber Rudd.

Listen to their debate.

Unfortunately my speakers were not working today.
However, without sound, the clip reminded me of a
Punch and Judy Show.

Bart it's better without volume.
Think Amber was saying that one of the Tories greatest achievements was the whittling away of Trade Unions, amongts other Conservative cut backs during the 1980s.
Foster cried that the current Government was New Labour after all and in order to appeal to the middle class voters he would continue to fleece the poor working class.

Think Amber was saying that one of the Tories greatest achievements was the whittling awy of trade union status amongts other cutbacks in the 1980s.
Foster then cries that the Government is after all new labour and to continue to appeal to middle class voters he intended to fleece the working class.

Yes ...as Amber says ..the approach to the Post Office closure re the Labour leaflet was deceptive.

We also have the spectre of Michael Foster trying to say that the Post Office is seperate from the government. Rubbish ....the PO is NOT privatised and is owned by the government. The government dictate the overall policies.

Who would believe Mr Foster when he campaigns for the PO and then votes against suspending closure in the House of Commons ?

Time is needed to look at other ways of building the PO business.

Does Michael Foster really believe that all Hastings's residents are stupid ?

Apparently Chris Huhne's late votes were held up in the Christmas Post. I wonder if this was to do with the Post Office problems and the Government!

For readers information, the Liberal Democrats were not invited by the Observer to take part in this debate. This, despite the fact that Old Hastings is represented on the Council by Lib Dem Cllrs Richard Stevens and Sue Palmer.
