Hastings Priory have been knocked off the top of the Sussex Cricket League as a result of the weather.

Priory’s match away to Three Bridges in the Premier Division on Saturday was abandoned due to rain with the visitors 30-2 after 12 overs batting first.

And Preston Nomads took advantage with a six-wicket win away to Eastbourne which gave the reigning champions a two-point lead. Third-placed Horsham, like Priory, were hit by the rain.

Bexhill’s game away to St James’s Montefiore in Division Two was also abandoned. The hosts scored 92-5 batting first in a match reduced to 20-overs-per-side and Bexhill were 1-0 off one over in reply.

Sidley have gone back to the top of Division Three (East), meanwhile, on the back of a five-wicket victory at home to Uckfield Anderida.

Paul Swannell took 5-39 and Peter King 4-40 as Uckfield were all out for 102 batting first. King (34), John Haffenden (24) and Swannell (21 not out) did the rest with the bat.

Crowhurst Park’s match away to Keymer & Hassocks in the same division was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
