Hastings & Bexhill head coach Chris Brooks admits the rugby club is in ‘a strong position’ as it prepares to return to action.
After a gap in the fixture list last weekend, table-topping H&B will resume their Kent One campaign with a trip to Brockleians tomorrow (Saturday).
With almost a quarter of the season gone, H&B are four points clear at the top of the division having won all of their opening five matches.
Brooks said: “We’re in a very strong position and the players do have the bit between their teeth now. It seems that we’ve got a host of talent to call on and when we can’t put our strongest selection out, it’s not far behind the strongest selection.
“We’ve got more strength in depth than I can remember. There’s so much competition for shirt numbers I think the hardest part of every week for me is the selection meeting.”
H&B have the best points difference in the division having scored the most points and conceded the fewest. Their next assignment is against a second-bottom Brockleians side which has lost four of its five fixtures so far.
“I think on paper so far we’re looking like the strongest team in the league, but it’s a long old season and you can’t lay back on your laurels in this league at all,” added Brooks.
