Snooker ace maintains fine form
Snooker star Mark Davis continued his good form in event three of the inaugural Pro Challenge Series.
The St Leonards potter, who knocked out world number eight Marco Fu en route to the last 16 of the Grand Prix last month, won three matches to reach the quarter-finals.
Davis, 47th on the official world rankings and 32nd on the provisional list, began his run at the Willie Thorne Snooker Centre in Leicester with a 4-1 victory over provisional no.59 Paul Davies.
He then whitewashed provisional no.83 Ben Woollaston, a semi-finalist in the recent Masters Qualifiers, 4-0 and saw off 2007 Northern Ireland Trophy runner-up Fergal O'Brien 4-1.
Former B&H champion and snooker.de Open winner Davis, 37, was eventually beaten 4-0 by rising star Judd Trump, who made a top break of 102, on Tuesday night.
Davis could have the opportunity for revenge over the Bristol left-hander in the qualifiers for the season's third ranking event - the UK Championship - at Pontin's, Prestatyn, later this month.
He will face provisional no.27 Trump over the best of 17 frames in the final qualifying round on Sunday November 29 if he beats Li Hang, Tony Drago or David Gilbert the previous day.
Bexhill-based Jimmy Robertson lost 4-0 to an in-form Ricky Walden in round two of the Pro Challenge Series event having received a bye in round one.
