Quiz champion CJ de Mooi has entered this year’s Hastings Half Marathon.

A regular face on our teatime television screens as one of BBC2’s Eggheads, CJ will join the thousands of runners for the 28th staging of the popular sporting event on Sunday March 25.

CJ became known after winning Fifteen to One and went on to make a lasting impression on The Weakest Link before getting the call to join Kevin, Daphne, Chris and Judith to form a panel of quiz champions on the popular Eggheads.

A regular runner - and no slouch judging by times of 1.28.42 for the half marathon and 3.14.24 for the marathon - CJ is using the Hastings event as part of his preparation for the London Marathon in April.

He has also offered his services to Hastings Lions Club, the half marathon organisers, which has come up with the idea of holding a version of ITV quiz show The Chase at the pre-race pasta meal, with CJ of course as The Chaser!

Although thousands of pounds can be won on the TV, the prize-money on offer at the Hastings equivalent will be a lot lower but any winnings will go to a nominated charity. Deputy Mayor of Hastings, Cllr Alan Roberts, has already agreed to be a contestant.
