Hastings Priory’s cricketers suffered a heavy defeat at home to Sussex Premier League leaders Preston Nomads on Saturday.

Having won the toss, Priory decided to bat and started well, reaching 43 before Tom Gillespie (24) was dismissed. Jake Woolley (27) could only watch as his next two partners scored one between them, and soon he was out to leave Priory on 59-4.

Priory’s last six wickets went down for a measly 20 runs, with Mick Glazier ending 12 not out. Kashif Ibrahim ended the innings with superb figures of 5-9 as Priory were all out for 79.

Nomads never looked in too much danger, reaching 40 before Hugh Finzel (28) went. Sussex professional Joe Gatting (30 not out) sealed the victory as the visitors finished on 80-2 with Jack Coleman and Sujith Perera taking the wickets.
