Pensioner Ann

Almost 1,200 people have signed up for Hastings' Race for Life on June 15 - and pensioner Ann Brady is one of them.

Ann, from Ore, will be running the Alexandra Park race for the fifth time, in memory of her sister Lily Nataro, who died of breast cancer in 2004.

Ann, 69, said: "She was a brilliant sister whom I loved dearly, and a very brave lady who never complained even when she was extremely poorly.

"She had marvellous treatment from a lovely Hospice in London, Eden Hall in Belsize Park.

"The Race for Life is a marvellous experience, and the atmosphere is incredible. Joining in with all the exercises is a real laugh.

"I hope this year will be another success in raising funds for research in the fight against cancer."

For the second year running Ann will be accompanied by friend Marian Ham (pictured with her above), headteacher of Sedlescombe Primary School, and hopes to complete the 5km in one hour.

There are 2,206 spaces left on the Race for Life. To enter go to www.raceforlife.org or call 0871 641 2274.
