A world indoor bowls champion is set to line-up in an exciting new tournament in Hastings this weekend.
Katherine Rednall, who last month became the youngest winner of the World Indoor Bowls women’s singles title, is in the field for the Falaise Open Singles.
The 18-year-old from Stowmarket in Suffolk will open Sunday’s proceedings at Falaise IBC from 9am.
Highest ranked competitor and £50 tournament bounty Tom Doig, and England under-25 talent Daniel Morris will join Rednall in a strong line-up for an event which is part of the national PlanetBowls.com 2013/14 circuit.
With £900 going to the winner, £400 to the runner-up, £150 to the semi-finalists and £50 to the quarter-finalists, all 62 places available for the knockout competition have been snapped up.
The first round is set to get underway from 1pm tomorrow (Saturday) with a full day’s play scheduled for Sunday. Matches will be played over two sets of seven ends with a three-end tie-break if necessary.
Spectators are welcome and admission is free. Food and drink will be on sale throughout. The event is sponsored by DD Catering, Glazed Bullies, 1066 Wing Chun Schools and Bohemia Motors. Full details can be found at www.planetbowls.com/Falaise.html
