Scores of bowlers from all over the south east are set to take part in the annual Bexhill Men’s Open Bowls Tournament.
Proceedings will begin at 9.30am tomorrow (Monday) at The Polegrove Bowling Greens in Richmond Road, with the competition running throughout the week until finals’ day next Saturday (August 10).
Entries are strong with 117 players set to line-up in the singles event, 86 teams registered in the pairs and 49 threesomes in the triples. As well as a strong local contingent, entries have come in from Surrey, Kent, Buckinghamshire, London and even Wales.
“The forecast looks good,” organising secretary Bill Whittington said. “Hopefully the sun will be shining when the tournament gets underway. We’re pretty happy with entry numbers considering other events have struggled somewhat this year.”
If all goes to plan and the weather does hold up, finals’ day next weekend will consist of the semi-finals from each discipline at 9am followed by the finals at 2pm.
